Male role model

While it is clear that Jamie Oliver is not a childcare professional, his expertise regarding food and nutrition cannot be disputed. Although Jamie Oliver's language and tactics are not always politically correct, it is this style that gets him noticed and enables him to effect real change. Let us not, through narrow-minded criticisms, turn him into simply another of the 'exhausted, let down and cynical' professionals that Julian Grenier refers to. If Jamie Oliver's own drive and enthusiasm are testimony to the benefits of 'real food', then I think we should welcome his campaign with open arms and recognise him as a strong, positive male role model for children.
