A dentist from Lancashire has launched a campaign called Stop the Rot to deter nurseries from serving sugary food and drink, The Daily Telegraph reported. Dentist Graham Wilding said he sees too many toddlers in his surgery with tooth decay and wants all nursery children to brush their teeth after lunch. SkyNews said parents spend 6 billion a year on toys for their children. A survey by internet bank Egg estimates the average child will accumulate toys worth 11,000 by the age of 16.

The Guardian gave details of an 'intelligent cot' that controls a baby's temperature and allows parents to monitor them from another room. It is hoped that the cot, designed by four students from Coventry University, will reduce cases of cot death. As an added bonus, it will even rock babies to sleep.

BBC News revealed that Ronald McDonald has had a sporty new makeover for the latest McDonald's TV advert. The clown will jettison his traditional jumpsuit in favour of sporty shorts while indulging in activities such as snowboarding and juggling fruit.
