A woman who is just 28 inches tall has successfully given birth to an 18-inch baby who will grow to an average height, despite doctors' warnings that she could die, reported The Sun.

Stacey Herald, age 33, who already has a 16-month-old child, has agenetic disorder called Osteogenesis imperfecta, which causes brittle,fragile bones, underdeveloped lungs and stunted growth. During thepregnancy Stacey added 20lb to her normal weight of 52lb.

A teachers' union has called for homework to be abolished for primaryschool children, said the BBC News website. Speaking at the Associationof Teachers and Lecturers conference, union leader Mary Bousted saidthat problems completing homework could lead to a cycle of resistance toschool particularly in children from poor backgrounds. 'I think a lot ofhomework is a waste of time,' she said.
