A second generation of Enid Blyton's characters from the Famous Five will be hitting television screens in a spin-off cartoon series from Disney, reported The Times. 'Famous Five: On the Case' will feature George's Anglo-Indian daughter Jo, short for Jyoti, Julian's son Max, and Dick's son Dylan, who seems permanently glued to his wireless laptop. Wimpish Anne has emigrated to become a California art dealer and her daughter Allie is a shopping-obsessed Malibu teen. The new team is again completed with Timmy the dog. The Times describes the new five as 'sassier' than their ginger-beer drinking parents. When describing a monster, Dylan exclaims, 'It's been around for centuries - longer than Prince Philip.' The series will show the characters spending lots of time exploring, including sleeping rough on the moors, as a counter to the idea that it is too dangerous for children to play outdoors.
