Montessori charity acquires nursery group

Montessori St Nicholas has acquired Longacre Childcare in Kent to add to its growing Schools Group portfolio.
Philip Bujak, chief executive officer of Montessori St Nicholas, said, ‘We are delighted to announce our acquisition of Longacre Childcare. Longacre has an outstanding local reputation, with highly qualified staff and fantastic resources. It is committed to providing the best possible start in life for each child in a homely environment.’

He added, ‘Longacre currently utilises Montessori techniques and equipment within each setting so there is a natural fit. The charity continues to look for and acquire the very best quality childcare settings as part of its strategic aim of owning a large group of schools by 2015.’

Montessori St Nicholas is a UK charity for Montessori, which aims to fund research into the value of Montessori education, support its development and unify the movement across the UK.

The charity’s aim is to create a group of Montessori nurseries specialising in offering top quality Montessori education, expanding to ten to 14 settings by 2015. It has previously acquired the Cherry Tree School in Suffolk and St Nicholas Preparatory School in Knightsbridge.

Longacre Childcare was established in 2003 and has three day nurseries in Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells catering for children aged three months to five years from 150 local families.
