Montessori meets standards

Montessori childcarers in England were assured last week that their qualifications would be recognised under the national standards for daycare. The reassurance was given by both the Department for Education and Skills and the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), as there had been on-going confusion over the validity of Montessori qualifications because a submission has not yet been made to the QCA for them to be recognised under the early years framework. The DfES and the QCA are in the process of drawing up a list of accredited qualifications in line with the National Childcare Strategy.
