The move is in response to Sir Brian Lamb's letter in August whichcriticised the education system for failing to focus on outcomes fordisabled and SEN children, since they were entitled to education inmainstream schools (News, 13 August).
The measures include testing easier ways of assessing children with SENand new guidance for schools to tackle high exclusions of children withSEN.
An independent review led by Toby Salt, deputy chief executive of theNational College for Leadership of Schools and Children's Services, willlook into the supply of teachers trained to meet the needs of childrenwho have severe learning difficulties.
Sir Brian Lamb is due to publish his final recommendations thismonth.
