Nannies caught on camera

Norland nannies are in the spotlight again with a new cable TV series called 'Nanny School' on the Discovery Home & Health channel. In 15 half-hour episodes it follows childcare students around their daily lives at the prestigious Norland College in Bath and on work placements. Janie Stafford (pictured), one of the students featured, says, 'It's been fantastic to be part of a programme which shows people the intensive training we undergo at Norland.' 'Nanny School' is on weekdays at 5.30pm until 3 November. Meanwhile, to promote the programme, Discovery Home & Health launched its own survey of childcare of all types - though nannies might not recognise themselves in it. Apparently 95 per cent of average nannies expect 'higher wages than other nannies nearby' and 60 per cent expect an en-suite bedroom. The survey claims that 62 per cent of working mothers who want or have a nanny say they 'would approach a group of nannies in the park' to nab a good one - and would lure them with, among other perks, 'the opportunity to meet well-off future husband material'.
