Nanny accreditation could lead to register

The first nanny in a pioneering scheme to give nannies professional recognition has gained her accreditation on the Channel Island of Jersey. Lynn McAneny, who gained her NNEB 14 years ago, said, 'I think the scheme is a fantastic way of both raising the profile of nannies and reassuring parents who need quality childcare in their home. The registration process was quick and easy with an informal, friendly interview.'

The quality scheme is run by the Jersey Child Care Trust, and its deputy director, Fiona Breen, said there were currently eight more nannies working towards accreditation. She said, 'We are thrilled to have Lynn as our first accredited nanny. She demonstrated an excellent knowledge of the balance, understanding and empathy that a nanny, living with and working for a family, must have.'
