NCMA film markets the childminding choice

Provision
Childminding is the focus of a new film on DVD produced for parents by the National Childminding Association.

The short film, 'Home from Home: the benefits of home-based childcare', aims to show parents what choosing a registered childminder will mean for them and their family.

It is accompanied by an information leaflet titled 'Home from Home: Giving your child the best start'. This includes five top tips and a list of useful questions that parents should ask when visiting a prospective childminding setting, such as what qualifications and training the childminders have, whether they belong to a network or childminding group, and if they have registration and insurance certificates.

Catherine Farrell, NCMA joint chief executive, said, 'We are very excited about the new film and leaflet, which we hope will help parents to choose a home-based childcarer. Recent research has shown that many families do not know what a registered childminder can offer and would welcome more information on the benefits of home-based childcare.
