NCMA has its say

I'm not sure what Anthea Thomas is getting so steamed up about ('Polling problems', Letters, 1 January). In my 10 years' experience as chief executive of the National Childminding Association, I have come to expect exactly the sort of lively, mature and democratic discussion of important issues that we had at the AGM in Torquay. NCMA members, both in Torquay and through the postal voting system, expressed their views and, as a result, we will be using the pages of our membership magazine 'Who Minds' to extend the debate and return to it at our next AGM in Scarborough.

But more serious is Anthea's comment about who represents registered childminders and what that means. The NCMA is a national charity and membership association covering England and Wales. We are a non-profit making organisation, investing all our efforts and income into supporting childminders and giving them a national voice. Everything we produce or sell - whether it is membership, insurance, legal representation, publications, training or quality assurance - contributes to our mission to support childminders and quality childcare.
