New guide to working with twos

A new guide to caring for two-year-olds by child development expert Penny Tassoni has been published today.

With the imminent increase in numbers of two-year-olds in early years settings, president of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY) Ms Tassoni has released Getting it right for two year olds, published by Hodder Education, for childcare professionals looking to improve on practice and outcomes for the age group.

The book examines the key features of two-year-olds’ development and identifies priority areas such as speech, language and emotional development, providing advice for practitioners on how to create suitable environments in which to work more effectively with the age group, and how to carry out the two-year-old progress check. It also explores the specific play needs of two-year-olds and includes dedicated activities linking these to the EYFS framework.
