I am currently midway through the Diploma in Childcare and Education course and am fed up with being told that the work I am doing is easier and of less worth than the work the NNEB students used to do. I am dismayed that the work placement supervisors seem to have the wrong impression of our course. The marking for our course work is done to A-level standard, A to E grade, whereas the NNEB was marked Refer, Pass, Merit and Distinction. Our lecturers have told us that what used to pass as a distinction is what we now achieve as an E grade.

What I would like to say is, if you as a supervisor are under the impression that the diploma is of less value than the NNEB, please talk to your local college or your students, who will set the record straight.
