Outstanding Party

The Old School House Day Nursery in Sancton, East Yorkshire celebratedits Outstanding Ofsted report with a summer party and special meal forstaff.

Caterpillar parade

The pre-school children at Twinkles Nursery in Boston Spa, Wetherby, puton for parents a production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by EricCarle. They took on various roles of the caterpillar and the differentfoods he ate in the story. The play was followed by a graduationceremony for all the school leavers.

Perfect pets

Children at Nursery on the Green in Frimley Green, Surrey, went on atrip to pet shop Pets at Home to choose some goldfish for their room.The visit followed on from a topic on the children's story book The FishWho Could Wish by John Bush.

EYPS Duo

Two practitioners from Peterborough have achieved Early YearsProfessional Status. Pamela Bridgeman from Orton Longueville playgroupand Samantha Ringrose from Daisy Chain Nursery in Parnwell studied withGrantham-based EM Direct to achieve the award.

Graduation Show

Highams Park Children's Day Nursery and Pre-School in London held agraduation ceremony last month for their pre-school children. Tocelebrate, children sang songs, took part in a catwalk show and saw adance performance by a former pupil and her sister.

Fundraising puffins

The Puffins of Exeter Childcare Centres in Devon held a Summer Fete,which raised 1,700 to support the music therapy programme at theHoneylands Specialist Children's Centre for children with complexspecial needs. The Exeter Chiefs Rugby Team organised an auction.

Children's Garden

Children from Hopscotch Childcare in Liverpool were invited as VIPs toofficially open the City Central's BID children's garden in August.

After cutting the ribbon to declare the garden open, the childrenenjoyed testing out the new play area.

Triple Award

Springfield Lodge Day Nurseries, which has two settings in Kent, hasbeen awarded the Investors in People Silver award in recognition of itsachievements. The chain has also been presented with a Kent Quality Markand was recently rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.

Egg and Spoon posing

Children at Bank Hall Kindergarten in Leyland, Lancashire took part inrunning, sack-hopping, obstacle courses and egg and spoon races fortheir sports day. All proceeds will go to Ormskirk Hospital's neonatalunit.

Moomins Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Moomins competition: Ms J Hammond,Corner House Day Nursery, West Ealing, and Jennifer Sweeney, manager ofStep by Step Nursery in Glasgow, who won books to celebrate the 65thanniversary of the popular children's story.

Handwashing Day

Early years settings are encouraged to get involved in this year'sGlobal Handwashing Day on 15 October.

The idea behind the day, organised by the London School of Hygiene andTropical Medicine, is to teach children how important it is to washtheir hands properly to prevent the spread of illnesses.

Two-year-old Findlay Leonard-Page enjoyed a toffee apple at a fundraiserat Little Angels Day Care Nursery in Brighton, East Sussex, last month.The nursery invited children and their parents to the event, whichincluded activities such as apple-bobbing, face-painting and a raffle.They raised a total of 205.28 for Great Ormond Street Children'sHospital.
