Fun firefighting

Children from the Wishing Tree Nursery in Brighton were treated to avisit from the East Sussex Fire and Rescue service last month. Thechildren had lots of fun being firefighters for the day, climbing onboard the engine, trying on helmets and using the water hose.

Stop, Look and Listen

Children from Hungry Caterpillar Day Nursery in Northolt, Middlesex,learned all about road safety with a free show provided by theChildren's Traffic Club. After the show they decided to make their owndisplay board to remind them about the rules for staying safe around theroads.

FOR THE SENSES

The nursery Early Years Childcare in Basingstoke, Hampshire, officiallyopened its new sensory room this month, with the help of Basingstoke andDeane Mayor George Hood and his wife. The new facility, which features abubble/light machine, a plasma ball and various soft objects, has beenfunded by a council disability grant and has been especially created fora child with Down's syndrome who is joining the nursery. Nursery managerKatrina Tye said, 'We are so excited about our new room. It's somethingthat will be put to very good use, and we want to thank the council forfunding the equipment and making this possible.'
