Armed with trowels and handforks, we had prepared the ground and planted our herbs according to the instructions - well, almost. We had forgotten to keep the catmint in the pot when planting and failed to take into account that the ground was virgin soil - and, boy, do things grow in virgin soil.

Soon the herbs were strangling each other. So, we ripped out the catmint (although even now a stem will raise its ugly head), we left the chives (so pretty when in flower) and the strawberries were left to take over the 'asylum'.
