Nursery buyout propels group into the top five

Treetops Nurseries has acquired Yorkshire-based group Kindercare, adding around 900 places to the nursery chain.

The acquisition adds ten more sites to the Derby-based group, taking the number of settings it operates to 59, and the number of childcare places it offers above 4,000.

The deal will consolidate Treetops’ presence in the North of England.

Kindercare was a family-run business, previously run by Janet Standeven. Most of Kindercare’s nurseries are in Harrogate and Leeds, with two nurseries in Ripon and York.

Treetops has grown in size in recent years, with its largest previous acquisition the Happy Child group of 15 settings in April 2014.

Commenting on the Kindercare sale, Charles Eggleston, chief executive officer of Treetops Nurseries, said, ‘I am absolutely delighted to be welcoming Kindercare into the Treetops family.
