Treetops Nurseries buys the Happy Child group

Treetops Nurseries has acquired the Happy Child nursery group of 15 settings.

The sale brings the total number of nurseries operated by Treetops to 49, offering more than 3,250 places.

The move sees the nursery group move to seventh position in the 25 largest nursery chains in the UK, according to Nursery World’s Nursery Chains 2013 supplement.

News of the acquisition is posted on the Treetops Nurseries website.

It states, ‘We are delighted to welcome Happy Child nursery group to the Treetops family. Everyone is very excited about working together and continuing to deliver high-quality childcare.’

However, it is unclear whether Treetops will also take over the training arm of Happy Child, which provides apprenticeships in childcare and QCF qualifications at Levels 2 and 3.

Reports suggest that Happy Child’s three preparatory schools have been bought by firm Timedance Limited.

Happy Child was established in 1990 and has nurseries in London and Cheltenham. It employs around 300 staff.

Nursery World contacted Treetops Nurseries but they declined to comment.
