Nursery chains expand in Manchester and London

Nursery chains Kids Planet and London Early Years Foundation are expanding.

Kids Planet opened a 130-child nursery within two miles of Media City in Salford on 26 August.

It is housed in a purpose-built hi-tech building equipped with CCTV in each room and fingerprint door entry for staff. The nursery, in Eccles Old Road, will employ 35 full-time staff and a chef.

The chain is to open another in the Higher Broughton area of the city in November with the same security features, taking its total number of nurseries to 12.

The nursery will be housed in a former police station, which will be registered for 160 children. When full, it will employ 41 staff and have two kitchens, one of which will be designed to kosher standards. The company says that if any Jewish children join it will employ a separate kosher chef.
