Nursery education grant extension put up for consultation

A Government consultation on how to revise the Code of Practice for the free early years entitlement, as it is extended to 15 hours and offered more flexibly, will start next week, Nursery World can exclusively reveal.

Writing in her column for the magazine this week, children's minister Beverley Hughes says she wants to hear readers' views on how best to revise the guidance.

The DCSF consultation will feed into the revision of the existing Code of Practice and help draft the new version to be the focus of a second consultation in the autumn.

Ms Hughes writes, 'I would welcome the input and thoughts of Nursery World readers, as many of you will be delivering this invaluable childcare and you are best placed to tell us how we can make this work, to the advantage of local authorities and practitioners as well as children and families.'
