Nursery school wins science prize

Kate Greenaway Nursery School and Children's Centre in Islington has won the 2014 Rolls-Royce Science Prize for a project engaging children with
science.

The winning programme, called 'Playful Science for Everyone', aims to engage and inspire young children, families and staff in early science experiences.

This is done through exploration in the nursery, running a forest school and hosting of 'Science Saturdays' in the local community to encourage local families to participate in science- based activities.

Jan Stillaway, project lead at Kate Greenaway, said, 'Young children are natural scientists; we just have to give them the chance.'
