Hollywood Park Combined Nursery Centre is to be relocated by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council in July, after having 86,000 spent on the roof and electrical systems. Council surveyors now say the building requires complete rewiring.

The schoolhouse, built in 1906, has been home to Hollywood Park for 24 years. Located in a deprived area of Stockport, the nursery school has 96 places, including 30 places for social services referrals. Ofsted inspectors rated it 'outstanding' last May.

A council spokesman said, 'There has been no decision to close Hollywood Park Combined Nursery Centre, but there are serious problems which affect the future use of the building. We are striving to protect the services it provides, but there will have to be relocation elsewhere.'
