Nursery World Business Summit: shadow minister's first speech in new role

New shadow minister for children Alison McGovern MP will give her first public speech in the role at Nursery World's Business Summit tomorrow.

Ms McGovern took over last week from Lucy Powell, who has been promoted to run Labour's election campaign.

Childcare and education minister Sam Gyimah will start the programme at the Business Summit, looking at childcare policy proposals as next year's election nears.

He will be followed by Alison McGovern, and both will then take part in a question and answer session.

The Nursery World Business Summit offers the chance to hear from and question the people who are shaping the future of the early years sector.

The stellar line-up of speakers at the Business Summit includes:

  • Nick Hudson (pictured) of Ofsted on the future of inspection
  • Carole Edmond of Bright Horizons on nursery acquisitions
  • Charlie Taylor of NCTL on the progress of the Early Years Teachers programme
  • Vidhya Alakeson of Resolution Foundation with an update on the economy
  • Professor Chris Pascal on why quality matters
  • Sarah Rotundo of Co-operative Childcare on staff recruitment and retention
  • Neil Leitch of Pre-school Learning Alliance, with exclusive new research into the cost of funded nursery places
  • Daniel Upfield of Ark Atwood Primary on providing for young children in schools; plus, panel debate with PLA, NDNA and the audience
  • Kate Hudson of Shake Social on making social media work for you

There will also be the chance to have mini-meetings with leading suppliers of equipment and resources over drinks and nibbles.

Delegates include representatives from most of the leading nursery providers, so don't miss your chance to book for this essential conference.
