GREEN FINGERS

Children from Mucky Pups Childcare in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, spent the morning planting more than 80 trees and hedges in the nursery’s large garden, with the help of gardeners Charles Hill Garden Services.

The trees were donated to the setting by the Woodland Trust as part of their Plant a Tree for the Jubilee campaign.

HATCHING TIME

Treetops Nursery in St Neots, Cambridgeshire received a special delivery of unhatched eggs. The children watched in awe as the chicks emerged from the eggs.



PANDA-RING AROUND

Children at Jigsaw Nursery in Balerno, Edinburgh, have been learning all about Giant Pandas. As part of the topic, the nursery paid a visit to Edinburgh Zoo where they met two pandas called Sweetie and Sunshine. On their return to the setting, the children helped make their own Giant Panda to be put on display at the nursery.



DOWN ON THE FARM

Wells House Kindergarten in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester visited their local farm where they learnt about cows and watched them being milked. The children even got the chance to feed the calves and lambs and watch a baby goat being born. The visit was organised to coincide with the nursery’s topic on spring life.



HELPING HAND FOR HEROES

Mardley Hill Busy Bees Nursery in Welwyn, Hertfordshire presented the charity Help for Heroes with a cheque for £15,000, raised by 22 of the group’s settings. Staff from the setting in Mardley Hill were chosen to present the cheque as they raised the most money at £2,100.



A ROYAL REPLY

Children at Castle Day Nursery in Worthing, West Sussex were delighted to receive a reply from the Queen thanking them for the card they made for her birthday.



ST GEORGE'S DAY

Staff and children at Little Acorns Day Nursery in Mirfield, West Yorkshire (top)celebrated St George’s day, 23 April 2012.Along with learning about our patron saint, the children made England flags and decorated biscuits for a traditional English tea party.

Woodlands Day Nursery in Timperley, Cheshire also marked St George's day by watching a play, an adaption of the story of George and the Dragon, acted by the children of the Elmscot Ltd Schools Out Club.





A GRUFFALO PERFORMANCE

Nature Trail Nursery in Chorley, Lancashire enjoyed a trip to The Lowry in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester to see a production of The Gruffalo.
