Nursery World - OCC reports on highlights of its first year

The Office of the Children's Commissioner (OCC) has published its first annual report, highlighting its key work and achievements over the past year. Professor Sir Al Aynsley-Green, who took up the post of children's commissioner for England on 1 July 2005, has been working with children and young people to set his priorities. He has spoken out on issues raised by children and young people, including bullying, anti-social behaviour and asylum.

He said, 'It's incredible that in one of the world's richest economies, children and young people continue to live in poverty, suffer abuse and be denied their human rights. I am looking forward to continuing to champion their views and make sure they are taken seriously.'

To encourage children to take part in setting priorities for the coming year, the OCC has launched a website www.shoutmyentry.org, with competitions and feedback forms.
