Parents and carers can do much to foster curiosity in their children, both by giving encouragement and in organising activities that will fascinate young minds.
GOOD PRACTICE
To work effectively with families in promoting their children's curiosity:
* value the role that parents and carers play as the child's first educator
* explain the philosophy of the setting
* ensure that children receive consistent messages about their learning from both their early years setting and home
* help parents to understand the nature of the 'curious child'
* encourage parents to make time for opportunities and experiences that will develop their child's curiosity at home
