One rule for Ofsted

We recently needed to contact our Ofsted inspector by e-mail as this is a fast and efficient means of communication - especially as we cannot speak directly to our inspectors - only to be informed they were unable to give out inspectors' e-mail addresses 'for confidentiality reasons'. If a public servant cannot be contacted on a business matter by a fellow professional on a business communication medium, then what right does Ofsted have to place on an open website all our personal details? Not only is this a considerable infringement of personal liberty as the majority of childminders work at home on their own, but we also have considerable child protection issues.

We fully support the proposition that all parents have access to information about childcare providers in their area, but Ofsted's proposal to put childminders' details on the internet is totally wrong.
