Children's minister Beverley Hughes officially opened Sure Start Bideford Children's Centre in Devon at the end of last month. The 1m centre, is based on the site of the new neighbourhood nursery, Tarka Tots.
Children in Goole celebrated the opening of Kingsway Children's Centre, the first children's centre in East Riding, Yorkshire, last month, with a free party hosted by radio station 96.9 Viking FM.
A 1m family learning centre including a 30-place nursery for nought to five year-olds was officially opened in Bexhill, East Sussex, last month. Sure Start Egerton Park Family Learning Centre and Cygnets Childcare Centre received funding from Sure Start, Seaspace (Hastings and Bexhill Renaissance) and the Big Lottery Fund. Courses planned include CV training, managing stress through relaxation and infant massage.
