Opinion: Editor's view

We must work to make sure that young children don't get overlooked amid political manoeuvring.

So, the election is over, but, as Nursery World went to press, we wereall none the wiser really about who will be governing the country.

Initial reactions from the early years sector are that the uncertaintyand political manoeuvrings are likely to lead to delays in taking actionand to young children's interests dropping down the list of prioritiesfor any incoming Government.

The early years are such a brief but vital period in which to enhanceyoung children's life chances and eradicate inequality, that we can'tafford for progress to be stalled for too long.

Meanwhile, all early years practitioners can do is to continue providingthe best experiences they can for young children. Nursery World is alsocontinuing normal service with some fantastic articles in this week'sissue.
