It may seem that times could not be more auspicious for prospective nursery owners - with the number of mothers returning to work still rising and growth in the sector encouraged by the Government's National Childcare Strategy - but the fundamental criteria for success still apply. Up there waving a red flag is the numero uno priority - market research. If there are no children under five in the area, things won't go well. Obvious maybe, but sometimes surprisingly overlooked. The key question that must be asked is, do parents want a nursery in this area?
