Out-of-school club closed during pornography case investigation

An out-of-school club has been closed after two men were arrested in connection with an investigation into child pornography.

Additions Childcare in Quedgeley, Gloucester, has had its registration suspended by Ofsted while an investigation is carried out.

Police have searched the club, which is based in a unit at Quedgeley Enterprise Park, near Gloucester, and reports say that computer equipment has been removed.

Additions is registered for 50 children and has a breakfast club and out-of-school club and provides holiday childcare.

Gloucestershire police said, 'On Wednesday 26 August, police arrested two local men, aged 20 and 23, in Gloucester in connection with computer-related offences.

As part of the operation, a number of addresses in the Gloucester area that are linked to the men have been searched, including an after-school club.

'Although this investigation is being led by the force child protection unit, there is no evidence or information at this stage that suggests any harm has come to any children who use the club. The management of the club are fully co-operating with the investigation.

'Police have also been liaising with Ofsted and will continue to do so and share all information that impacts on the after-school club.'

Police said the 20-year-old man has been bailed until November and the 23-year-old has been bailed until February.

An Ofsted spokesperson said, 'We have suspended Addition's registration after hearing of concerns about the nursery that suggested children may be at risk of harm. This suspension will allow an investigation to occur.'

Additions Childcare was graded satisfactory by Ofsted in its latest inspection in October 2008.
