Parents 'well aware of EYFS', survey finds

Almost all parents understand that children learn best through play and most have a good understanding of the EYFS, a survey of 284 Netmums users has found.

The research, commissioned by the NCB's Early Childhood Unit, consisted of 17 questions aimed at finding out the level of awareness of the EYFS and parents' experiences of its implementation in the settings attended by their children.

Eighty-four per cent of parents said they had heard of the framework, with most having a good understanding of it.

However, more than half of the parents questioned were not aware of the EYFS Profile and 49 per cent had not received a copy of their child's EYFS Profile scores.

Sue Owen, director of wellbeing at NCB, said, 'It's great to see that parents report a good level of communication from the settings their children attend, but 53 per cent in the survey were not aware of the EYFS Profile, with almost half not having received a copy.'
