Parliament welcomes families with creche

The Scottish Parliament is keeping its promise to be accessible and family-friendly by planning a creche for visitors to its new headquarters at Holyrood in Edinburgh. There will be no charge to use the creche, which will be part of the building complex currently under construction and due to open in 2003. It will be paid for by the Parliament and cater for nought to 14-year-olds.

A Parliament spokesman said, 'The founding principles of the Scottish Parliament are that it's open, accessible, family-friendly and promotes equal opportunities. We need to take account of families' requirements and we see a creche as a key part of that. If you're a parent and you want to watch a debate or you're giving evidence to a committee, you can leave your child at the creche.'
