Peter Peacock and Euan Robson

Newly-appointed education ministers Peter Peacock and Euan Robson last week dropped in to East Lothian's Athelstaneford Primary School to hear the views of pupils and teachers on the Scottish education system. Mr Peacock said, 'We made a commitment to ensuring excellence in all schools by providing more flexible learning and development opportunities. At primary level this will include reducing class sizes to a maximum of 25 in P1, introducing more flexibility in the curriculum for three to six year olds and increasing the number of specialist teachers.' The legislative programme for the next Parliament includes modernising the support system for children with special educational needs and bringing free school meal entitlement in line with changes to the UK benefits system.
