Groups of young people aged 11 to 20 who have made a special contribution to their community this year are being invited to enter the Philip Lawrence Awards. The annual competition is held in memory of headteacher Philip Lawrence, who was stabbed outside his school gates in Ealing, West London, while defending a pupil from attack in 1995. The five core themes in the awards are: combating violence, promoting community safety, advancing racial harmony, demonstrating good citizenship and supporting projects through schools.
