Initial work will concentrate on supervisory level skills for all childcare staff and defining the criteria for the status of Early Years Professional (EYP).

CWDC chief executive Jane Hayward told Nursery World, 'Each worker will need a slightly different package of training depending on their experience and there will be different training routes.' There will be national standards at graduate level and practitioners demonstrating these standards will be awarded EYP status, equivalent to qualified teacher status. The CWDC will also be working with the Training and Development Agency for Schools to look at how qualified teachers can achieve EYPS.
