Practitioners receive website support

* The Royal National Institute for the Deaf has set up a website to support early years professionals working with deaf babies and toddlers and their families. Among the topics covered are supporting deaf babies and their families, development from birth to two, language and communication, professional practice, and assessment and monitoring. The site has been developed in response to the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, which will identify deafness at a much younger age than was previously possible. The Early Support Pilot Programme, a Government-led initiative to improve services for disabled children under the age of three and their families, has a website at www.espp.org.uk,giving information about the programme, details of funded activity and progress reports for early years practitioners. The programme is a pan-disability initiative funded by the Department for Education and Skills to identify and develop good service provision and support development.
