Crieff Road Pre-School Centre has won a lifetime award from the international Eco-Schools Programme, which aims to raise environmental awareness among children and young people.

The nursery gained its first Eco-School Green Flag in 1998 and, after receiving its fourth last month, has now earned the right to hold the flag permanently.

The outdoor area at Crieff Road has been developed to include woodland walks, reflective areas, colourful flower beds and vegetable and herb gardens.

Nursery nurse Susan Kippen said, 'We take our indoors outdoors. The grounds are used all year round. During the summer months children can play with sand, do painting or read books outside, as well as all the usual outdoor activities. In the wintertime you find them feeding the birds, sledging and generally getting outside for healthy exercise.'
