The FSID also announced pioneering research to be led by Professor Anne Greenough at Kings College Hospital in London to investigate the best time to switch premature babies to sleeping on their backs. Dr Sara Levene, FSID's scientific and medical advisor, said, 'Babies born prematurely are seven times more likely to die later as cot deaths, and we need to do all we can to learn how to help them. This study will make it possible to offer health professionals and parents research-based advice on the safest sleeping positions for premature babies as they grow.'
