Professor Iram Siraj to lead Scottish childcare review

Policy & Politics
Professsor Iram Siraj is to carry out a review of Scotland’s early years workforce as part of plans to transform early learning across the country.

The review will look at the skills and qualifications of the early years workforce, as well as the recruitment and retention of staff and career pathways.

It is being led by leading early education expert Professor Siraj of the Institute of Education at the University of London, a member of the research team that carried out the Effective Provision of Pre-School and Primary Education 3-11 (EPPE) longitudinal study.

The aim of the review is to ensure the sector is well placed to deliver the Scottish government’s expansion of free childcare provision, a reform included in the Children and Young People Bill, which was passed by MSPs in Scottish Parliament on 19 February.
