Is there a recruitment crisis in childcare, and if so, why?

No, but to help people balance their work and family life, we want to recruit thousands more childcare workers. That's why we've launched the National Childcare Strategy. Its aim is to provide high-quality childcare, which all parents can afford, for up to one million children over the next three years.

The campaign is huge but it's part of an even bigger picture. The Government's joined-up approach to better childcare involves the locally run Early Years Development and Childcare partnerships. The New Deal schemes for young people, lone parents and the partners of unemployed people will also play its part in filling the jobs.
