Report snapshots Scottish children

Scotland's children are happier than they were ten years ago, according to a report published last week by the children's charity NCH Scotland. But it also found that a significant minority of children from the poorest backgrounds are most likely to continue to have difficulties in their lives.

Factfile 2004 gives a snapshot of the lives of children and young people in Scotland today, drawing on a range of sources including Government statistics and findings from voluntary organisations and academic research.

It includes chapters on early years and education, health, family life, poverty and social inclusion.

The annual report, funded by the Scottish Executive, includes two new sections, one on family life covering marriage, family make-up, adoption and domestic violence, and one on sport and leisure with details of sports, clubs and out-of-school activities.
