Runaway fuels debate on tagging

An Edinburgh nursery school has increased safety procedures after a five-year-old boy walked out of the building unnoticed. Staff at Spinney Lane Nursery School were alerted to Calvin Crate's disappearance by his grandmother, who phoned to inform them that he had arrived at her home. Calvin is thought to have climbed a gate and crossed a busy main road to get there.

City of Edinburgh Council and the nursery school immediately launched an investigation into the incident. It is the only time a child has left the nursery unnoticed and head teacher Carol Lenagan said they will ensure it does not happen again. She said, 'We were all deeply concerned to find that Calvin had left school on Friday.
