Nursery World - Ruth Pimentel joins Child Base nursery chain

The former Early Years director for National Strategies has joined nursery chain Child Base as a non-executive director.

Ruth Pimentel, a qualified teacher and former pre-school owner, joined the nursery chain at the beginning of March, after resigning from National Strategies last November (News, 10 November 2008). She was involved in developing the Foundation Stage from its launch in 2003 and became Early Years national director in February 2006.

Mike Thompson, chief executive of Child Base, said, 'We are delighted that Ruth has joined us at Child Base. Ruth's passion for high quality early years education and her expertise and guidance will bring huge value to all of our team and the children we care for.'

Child Base, which runs 35 nurseries in the south-east of England, was ranked at 90 in the top 100 companies to work for in the Sunday Times Best Companies Survey 2009. It was the only children's daycare service provider on the list (News, 12 March 2009).
