School for doulas

A new round of courses for learning how to be a doula is getting underway at British Doulas, run by Top Notch Nannies founder Jean Birtles. The City & Guilds-accredited course is offered in central London either over two weekends or on four consecutive weekdays, with the first starting on 21 January. A doula is a woman who has given birth at least once herself, who is hired to give a new mother emotional and practical support before, during and after childbirth. British Doulas says those placed through the agency can earn between 200 and 350 for a birth and around 10 an hour for post-birth work. Find out more on 020 7244 6053.
