Schoolchildren to have access to cultural activity

Every schoolchild will have access to at least five hours of cultural activity a week, under plans unveiled last week by children's minister Ed Balls and culture secretary Andy Burnham.

The 25m 'Find Your Talent' scheme would give all children thechance to benefit from activities such as acting, singing and learningto play musical instruments, along with visits to theatres, galleriesand museums. It will be piloted in ten areas around the country and willbe implemented by a new body called the Youth Culture Trust, which is toreceive more than 110m over three years in addition to the 'FindYour Talent' funding.
