Schools in NorthernIreland

Schools in NorthernIreland are to receive 22.2m in addition to their designated budgets in 2003/04. Jane Kennedy, minister responsible for education, said the extra money would be paid direct to schools and it 'will be up to school principals and governors to decide how it should be spent, based on their own assessment of priorities'. The allocations are based on the enrolment level of each school, with nursery and primary schools guaranteed a minimum of 6,000 up to a maximum of 25,911, while special schools will receive at least 5,250 and secondary schools will get between 26,700 and 47,911.
