In fact, CACHE is one of a number of awarding bodies requested to run this qualification by the Sure Start Unit at the Department for Education and Skills. Edexcel is among the other awarding bodies that offer this qualification. The Learning and Skills Council also funds the Edexcel programme in the same way. Although the news story doesn't contain incorrect information, it does not give an even picture.
