If you're looking for job satisfaction you may have to look no further than working with special needs children. Helen Kewley meets a nanny who did Nicola Wilson now has a job she loves, but it took her a long time to discover what she really wanted to do.

Nicola Wilson now has a job she loves, but it took her a long time to discover what she really wanted to do.

She says, 'Just as I was starting to make decisions about careers and higher education I became pregnant with my son. I wanted to spend his early years as a stay-at-home mum, so all my plans were put on hold until he started school. However,when he was little, I did help out at mother/toddler group and at his nursery and I became a Homestart volunteer, going to help families with young children where the parents felt isolated or needed support. When he was ready to start school I got various cleaning jobs to fit in with his school hours. One of these was for a computer company who offered to train me to work installing and maintaining computers and arranged my working hours to suit my son's needs.
