Resources

Small clear plastic bottles various small items such as buttons, small bells etc washing tablet net bags

Step by step

* Make two sets of shakers by securely sealing up buttons in two of the bottles and small bells in the other two. Make sure the sounds are distinct from each other and range from quiet to loud.

* As you shake each bottle, ask the child to find the bottle that makes the same sound. At this stage the child also uses visual clues to find the pair.

* As they become more confident with finding the sounds, make the game more difficult by placing each bottle in a net bag.

* You could extend this further by moving on to a solid bag or by blindfolding the children.
